Description

You will become the protagonist as you discover Florence through the eyes of professor Robert Langdon. Search through the city’s architectural masterpieces and frescoes, based on the hidden clues within Botticelli’s “Map of Hell”. The Inferno Day Tour begins as your Private English Speaking Driver picks you up from your accommodation in Tuscany for the start of your tour. In a spacious and elegant Mercedes Benz vehicle, he will chauffeur you through central Italy to Florence. Your Private Tour Guide will escort you through the Renaissance city with the first stop on your itinerary: Piazzale Michelangelo. Catch the most stunning view of Florence from above. From here, your Driver will then accompany you to Basilica di Santa Croce, known as ‘The Temple of the Italian Glories’, where illustrious Italians such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli and Rossini are buried. Your goal will be to reach the Old City, and as Robert and Sienna, you will head do so through Porta Romana, the stone door way along the walls that once surrounded the city, built in 1326. You will find yourself at the gorgeous Boboli Gardens. The park is adorned with elaborate statues, fountains and art works, and it is here that Robert and Sienna find the solution to the “Map of Hell”. Take a break from this exciting morning and enjoy an exquisite four course meal lunch and taste some authentic Tuscan flavors.
The two characters discover that the ten letters that have been added yield ‘Cerca Trova’, a reference to the Battle of Marciano by Vasari, located in Palazzo Vecchio. To reach the building, you will exit the Gardens through Palazzo Pitti, and along the Vasari Corridor. As you make your way along this ‘secret’ Corridor, which extends 1 km, you will reach one of Florence’s main attractions: the suggestive Ponte Vecchio. The bridge is built over the Arno River, and as you cross it you will have a chance to shop its many artisan shops, before reaching Palazzo Vecchio. It is here that Robert and Sienna investigate on the missing Dante’s Death Mask and visit the Sala dei Cinquecento and Sala delle Mappe, before finding some startling footage. From here, they must flee through the secret passages to get to Piazza della Signoria. Here, you’ll be faced with the Bargello and Campanile della Badia – which is a central part of the first half of the book and film. Also located here is the Loggia dei Lanzi, the spectacular cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, as well as the Baptistery – where Langdon and Sienna find the missing Dante Mask and a mysterious riddle. Your Florentine adventure will come to an end as your Private English Speaking Driver accompanies you back to your accommodation in Tuscany, through scenic routes.
